Van Rixel abrió una pintoresca tienda de chocolates en Taos, Nuevo México, con antiguas celdas convertidas en salas de degustación de chocolate. Sus memorables dulces de chocolate inmediatamente atrajeron la atención de lugareños y visitantes de todas partes. Poco después, su hermano Tim se unió a él en Nuevo México para continuar la misión de crear creaciones sencillas hechas a mano que hablen por sí mismas.
