Chip Saltman has been in New Mexico for 35 years. He has been a teacher 30 years, from elementary school, special education, all the way up to the university level. He has been retired from teaching now for 11 years.
He got the idea to do a soap that smelled like honey and looked exactly like a sopapilla! He met Susan Capaldi who had already been making soap for many years here locally in New Mexico. They joined forces, put Chip's idea into realty and here it is! This product is purely local to New Mexico. The hand crafted soap takes 2 days to make. Each individual bar comes from a 24 pound block of white glycerin based soap. It is melted, fragrances and coloring are added. The soap is then poured into molds and hand dusted with oxide to give it the slightly burnt look of a real sopapilla. These look so real you will want to eat them! DO NOT EAT! We have the soaps in an individual package or in a 3 pack in a sopapilla basket. Please to enjoy!
